Jewelry Care

Prounis Jewelry, like the jewelry of antiquity, is made to withstand the test of time. Our jewelry is designed for everyday wear—so do not fear, nor wear with scare. With time, your piece will gently shape to your unique way of life. Gold All our pieces are made with a signature alloy of 22K gold. This class of gold is more likely to bend and scratch if very roughly used. If you prefer to prevent these slight alterations in shape, we recommend removing jewelry for yoga, intense exercise, domestic chores, and other similar activities. Our gold has a matte finish that will, over time, wear away to a high polish. Should you prefer to restore the matte finish, we can do so by hand in our New York studio. Cleaning

Gold may naturally patina with daily wear. To remove oil, dirt, or residue, you can soak your piece in a bath of tepid water and a few drops of gentle non-detergent soap (like Dr. Bronner’s or Mrs. Meyer’s) for a few minutes. After soaking, pat your piece dry with a soft, non-abrasive cloth. For a more thorough cleaning, dip an old soft toothbrush in the soapy mixture and give your piece an especially tender scrub-a-dub. All-gold pieces like chains can take a longer wash, some 15 minutes or so, a thorough rinse of clean water, and a pat dry as before. For professional restoration services, give us a shout at studio@prounisjewelry.com. We would be happy to polish the chain and restore its original tone.

Storing

Prounis jewelry should be stored in a safe place where it will not move around freely or be scratched by rough surfaces. Chains should lay flat and ideally, be separated from other jewelry in order to avoid those pesky tangles. The 'S' clasp should be kept closed to avoid deformation, but should your ’S’ clasp become less secure than desired, push both ends together (strong fingers will do) on occasion.
